ABOUT US

We are a congregation of all ages with diverse gifts, united by faith in Jesus Christ, and committed to living out the Good News of His love, in word and action.

In response to God's grace, we seek to grow in faith through worship and study together knowing that together we are all the Body of Christ. We invite you to join us in this journey of faith.

Please explore our website to find out more about First Presbyterian. We look forward to meeting you!

WHAT DO PRESBYTERIANS BELIEVE?

As Presbyterians, we believe that our salvation through Jesus Christ is God’s generous gift to us and not the result of our own accomplishments. Therefore, even though we share common beliefs, we understand that God alone is Lord of the conscience, and it is up to each individual to understand what these principles mean in his or her life.

As a congregation, we challenge ourselves to remain strongly rooted in our Presbyterian heritage which is part of the Reformed Tradition. As members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) we believe in the priesthood of all believers, which is why the Presbyterian Church is governed at all levels by clergy and laity, men and women alike.

We believe unity is God’s gift to the Church in Christ. To be one with Christ is to be joined with all those whom Christ calls into relationship with him. In Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, God unites persons through baptism regardless of race, ethnicity, age, sex, disability, geography, sexual orientation, or theological conviction. Therefore, there is no place in the life of the Church for discrimination against any person. In the name of Christ, we welcome all whom God calls into community and leadership in God’s Church.

Children.jpg

Children are welcome and encouraged to worship with their families and  are invited to participate in all aspects of the service. Worship is central to our faith and is a time of witness and celebration that is meant for ALL of God's children - young and old alike.

Sharing our worship time with children is an important part of our journey together in faith.

All children present during worship are invited to come forward during the Children's Message to share in a special  message prepared just for them. It is quite common to see our youngest members running to the front for this special time in the service.
